The Chattooga River Trail, Rabun County, GA Sandy Ford Rd. Southward - 6 mi round trip.

Today's hike Started at the intersection of the Bartram Trail and Sandy Ford Rd. in Rabun Co., GA. Hiking southward to a lunch spot around 3 miles from the road.

HIKERS - John Anderson, Phil Brownrigg, Joe Collins, Renee Corbett, Greta Driggers, Jim Driggers, Tim Hale, Terre Pratt, Doris Richardson, Gerald Richardson, Vic Robson and Carole Wintle .

TRAIL INFO. - This portion of the Chattooga River Trail is very nice with great views of the river and some nice mountain views along the way. Trail conditions were not great due to several blowdowns. Moderately difficult due to elevation changes.

Directions: Take Warwoman Road 5.9 miles from Clayton and turn right on Sandy Ford Road. Cross the bridge and stay on Sandy Ford Rd. for a few miles and cross a ford and continue about a mile until the Boulder on the right side of the road engraved with "Chattooga River Trail - 10 mi. Highway 76". Park here and hike southward toward Highway 76.

Another great day for a hike! Partly cloudy and cool with temperatures ranging from 42 to 55 degrees F. 6 mile total hike.

FLOWERS IN BLOOM: Goldenrod, White Wood Aster, Blue Lobelia.

BIRDS IDENTIFIED: Pileated Woodpecker, Carolina Chicadee, Cardinal, White-breasted Nuthatch, American Crow and Blue Jay.
